Re: How do you predict the outcome of multiple combats?

The most important thing for me is intel. When attacking, I want to know what's going on behind my enemy's front lines. What kind of reinforcements are standing by, and how many of them can get to the front in one turn? What's going on in the other fronts? Can I count enough units to add up the amou...

Re: Lengthening a battle

A lot of it probably comes down to the map. One way to make a fight take longer is to make the fighting area very narrow. This tends to be grueling and not very fun, but it takes longer. Another way is to have higher starting gold and map with multiple locations that offer high defense and good vill...

Re: Problem with the 1.14 and MacOS

If the downloaded file is somehow corrupt, it may be a bad copy on the mirror server you are downloading from. Try a different mirror, or if you have Steam, try downloading it there.

Re: Problem with the 1.14 and MacOS

The error is caused by the issue with "libreadline.7.0.dylib" file. It appears the copy of the framework included with Wesnoth may be corrupted. Are you using the download from the website or an alternate package manager such as homebrew?

Re: 100% Accuracy. 0% Resistances/Defenses. Effect on Wesnoth?

One challenge you might have is that ranged units actually having range could negate the usefulness of melee units in general, unless they are nerfed to the point of being useless except in groups large enough to be cost prohibitive. Also, 100% accuracy and 0% resistances/defenses could create a sit...

1) 1.5.2 (Easy) 1.6.4 (Easy) 1.12.4 (Normal) 2) 7 (Normal Difficulty) 3) Does it need saying? I think it's been quite clear since the start what the ultimate objective is. 4) Enjoyed the reflective story, and was sort of indifferent about the dialogue. 5) Definitely keeping some of my veteran troop...

Re: Campaign: Saving Elensefar

Hey, I was in the scenario where I had to beat down an elvish champion and get some new elf crew (edit: "Traitors"), and after defeating the champion, the scenario ends with a defeat condition, and crashes back to the main screen. Wesnoth 1.12.4 on Mac.

Re: Campaigns order

That's been discussed, but the thing is that destroys campaign balance, and I can't even think of another possible situation other than the tutorial to HttT, and that's not hardly enough to make any difference anyway.

Re: Campaigns order

Well, some of the campaigns like Scepter of Fire and Orcish Incursion don't happen over a long time span, and Descent into Darkness doesn't have a defined ending anyway.

Re: [UMC]Unity Magic Mod

Sounds like a wonderful idea for some new User-Made Content (UMC). However, I'm pretty sure this forum is a place to propose changes or additions to the mainline game, and there's no way something like this would be mainline. This topic would make more sense in Scenario & Campaign Development.

Re: Wesnoth 1.13.1

Built from homebrew, running a certain beta of a not-yet-released Mac OS X... Runs great, possibly even faster than 1.12. However, the graphics leave something to be desired: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/963452/Pictures/messyWesnoth.png I should note that 1.12 does not exhibit any of these gr...

Re: Movies discussion

Since the land mass basically exploded, most of the mass was converted to energy which was released in the atmosphere. While that may have had a temporary effect on the climate (such as after a large volcanic eruption), it would have definitely reduced the potential damage done, optimally to within ...

Re: Deterministic mode for save scummers!

It really depends on what you focus on when playing campaigns. I like to focus on XP distribution and using zone of control to protect valuable or weak units. Those are skills you can build in campaigns that will continue to be useful in multiplayer games.
