Re: SXC Development
Apologies for not uploading to 1.18 until now, and thanks to ccX both for filling the gap on 1.18, and for giving back control. There's been one final upload to 1.16, version 0.3.3.1, fixing bugs on SXC Cursed Land and SXC Slaughter where the unit names in Ageless have changed. New stuff in 0.3.12, ...

Re: Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.34
Will 4.34 or later be released on the 1.16 server?
Here "no" is the easier answer for me - I'm wondering whether I'll need to do further uploads of SXC to 1.16. I have to do one last one anyway, having missed the deprecation, and in 4.31 removal, of AE_myh_Mistress.

Re: The South Guard (Revised)
The scale of conflict is important because if every campaign depicts a serious assault where a city is either razed or under threat on Wesnoth's lands, that reduces the emotional impact of seeing it happen after a while. Specifically in this case, because the enemy is undead, that cheapens the impa...

Re: The South Guard (Revised)
Because the journey map before Raising the Banner only shows the southern part, it misses an opportunity to show the places that Gerard II name-dropped in his intro speech. If the player turns on the tutorial, how about showing the main Wesnoth map with the route from Weldyn to the crossroads where ...

Re: The South Guard (Revised)
TSGR version 1.0.0 installed from the add-ons server, on Wesnoth 1.18.0+dev commit 3dec7e6c78 It opens with an exposition. Before we have any investment in the characters, world or plot, it gives a lot of world details without being clear about what is relevant to the current story. Having the king ...

Re: [mainline] there is a need for a en_US translation
They revert to English because the fuzzy detection often comes up with incorrect suggestions, such as reusing "Bulgarian translation" for "Bengali translation", or missing a change of objective from "get to the dwarves' castle in the center" to "get to the dwarves'...

Re: Translate wiki pages
po4a is a different part of the toolchain - it updates .po files from original documents, and creates translated documents from the original plus the .po files. The actual translation still happens in whichever .po editor you prefer. Diagram from https://po4a.org/man/man1/po4a.1.php master documents...

Re: Translate wiki pages
I'd skipped over this topic because I doubt we can add modifications to the Wiki (or more accurately, AFAIK it's not something that people want to maintain), so uploading .po files directly to the Wiki doesn't seem likely. However, the po4a tools that are used for the Wesnoth manpages and manual sho...

For terrains, enabling debug mode and then opening the help displays extra information such as the id and terrain code. Would adding a similar feature for units be helpful?

Re: Tutorial bug - quintain actually can kill ya
Save-loading shouldn't be a thing, at least not something that we recommend in the tutorial. It fits some player's style, but it'll turn other players off. Now that we have hints at the top-left of the screen, I'm thinking of this hint (for 1.19, and would need 8643 fixed first) : caption= _ "C...

Re: Legend of Wesmere - Chapter V: Elvish civil war
Maybe Landar is trying to eliminate anyone who knows about the potion, because the druids have started to notice slightly weird magical auras around him, and if they ask Kalenz about it then they'll work out how to exorcise the lich. I'm guessing the potion is a very closely guarded secret, because ...

Although it isn't redirected for have_asset, .png is redirected when it gets to src/picture.cpp's load_image_file(const image::locator&).

Re: Compatibility-breaking changes between 1.16 and 1.17/1.18
Almost all .jpg story images have been converted to .webp, and their filenames changed to match. However, the engine won't automatically look for the renamed images (it does for .png, but not .jpg).

It's possible to use more than one recolor in an image, in addition to
magenta
there's the flag_green
and ellipse_red
source palettes. That could be used to make the orbiting planets the players' chosen team colors.- March 15th, 2024, 2:27 pm

Re: Northern Rebirth Rebirthed
I don't know whether it will break anything, but it seems odd to use exactly the same directory name as the mainline campaign.
