Re: [mainline] change the policy for update of translatable strings
This thread is running for about as long as 1.18 development cycle. I have warned early about issues with the management of translations. Rather to hear them, the development team chose to discard the concerns and to apply an extreme version of its policy towards translation: free-for-all update of ...

Re: Wesnoth 1.14 on Android - app gone
The app disappeared from google play. It was there earlier today, but now it's just gone. Anyone know anything about this? The last time I tried a couple of weeks ago, the only link I found on the app store was dead. It was referred as "LEGACY" (1.12) and made it already explicit that the...

Published add-ons still downloadable after deleted
It appears that, on the 1.17 add-on server, the published add-ons that have been deleted through the in-game interface are still available for download. While the add-ons are not showing in the in-game add-on manager, they are still listed on the https://addons.wesnoth.org/1.17 web interface. If we ...

Re: Journey Into the Dwarven Roots (Campaign for 1.16.x)
I'm giving my feedback on discord Which channel is that on? I see nothing in #umc-dev on irc logs MARNE UPDATE General Dulotmos has heard terrible news. His city, Marne, has fallen -- with the cause assumed to be a troll attack. But things are not always what they first seem... Get ready for an epi...

Re: Experiment in loading past eras/campaigns in cores
Just dropping a line to say that it's working fine so far with The Militia. The other 3 also load but naturally I've not started them yet. I made a fix to make it easier to load 1.10 add-ons in core "Selamat" (core_1_10). It is available for download at version 1.4.7 of the add-on. I did ...

Re: Experiment in loading past eras/campaigns in cores
I finally got around to trying out some old 1.10 stuff and it doesn't work. : ( Of the 4 1.10 campaigns I downloaded 3 gave errors (missing macro) and 1 passed. I moved the 3 out and tried to load the passing one but when I switch core to 1.10 it tells me no campaigns are available at all. Or did I...

Re: [mod] Ideas to improve control and information when replaying saves
I think one of the area that could be improved to help analysis and broadcast of replays is the status table. Providing various consolidated statistics would be a good complement to the details shown on turn-by-turn basis during the replay. On the other hand, having statistics linked to different un...

Re: Permissions to use IP?
The authors themselves gave permission for their work to be used according to the respective license. Certainly if a country's laws say something contrary to the license then the laws take priority, but otherwise the authors can't come back after the fact and say "here are some new restriction...

Re: Permissions to use IP?
Any content may be used as the license it's under allows. All content in Wesnoth is licensed as either GNU GPL v2+ or CC BY-SA 4.0, neither of which require seeking permission from the author of that content in order to reuse it. They may dual license their work if they want, but they may not insis...

Re: Permissions to use IP?
The only IP that the Wesnoth project has is the trademark This is wrong. For example author rights exist for stories in wesnoth (which is covered in the request by OP) without any need to claim it in the license. See for example here for details. In particular: There are no formalities required to ...

[mod] Ideas to improve control and information when replaying saves
I have been working a bit on a mod to improve support to replay saves from old versions. This feature is desired by various people in the community of competitive 1v1 wesnoth. Since then, I've checked different broadcasters that I find quite interesting and entertaining. Still sometimes I can't help...

Re: [mod] Adding support to replay old saves (1.8-1.14 1v1) in BFW 1.16
New version to be used on BFW1.16 that contains the following functions: support from 1.8 to 1.14 saves (1v1) using the core model. Saves earlier than 1.8 are not supported because there is no matching core. ability to search saves by keywords. The feature was introduced here . Be sure to reset the...

Experiment with 1.16 core in BFW 1.17
A new core 1.16 has been put up for download as an add-on for BFW 1.17. Inside this core, you will find the Ladder Era (1.16) as available on BFW 1.16 add-on server. So you will be able to run the ladder era on the new version while waiting for the official release of Ladder Era. As the era is runni...

Re: [mainline] there is a need for a en_US translation
But of course you are also right, demario, translations can be a ton of work which requires time to complete and it hurts to re-do that work again and again. As the opening post highlights, there are different situations that can lead to frustration in the translation teams. This includes: incessan...

Re: [mainline] there is a need for a en_US translation
"can of course already start" means that translation teams can already start on the dev branch. There is zero implication that this is a good idea nor that that is the standard process. It is merely simple to handle because it's a file that only exists in dev. Ivanovic didn't take a break...
