Wild Era Campaign - Dreams of Urduk
Hi all. This is Turin, here to announce the publication of a new Orbis Terrarvm campaign. (I actually finished the campaign several months ago, before I began my semi-retirement, I just had some technical difficulties connecting to the add-on server to upload it. This morning those difficulties myst...

Re: Castle Separations
Or just number each keep in the four-character terrain code itself, and then have each castle hex's terrain code also come with an associated number. :hmm: That would limit recruitable castles to 10 (unless we allowed two-digit numbers), but it would completely disassociate (rule-wise, not conventio...

Re: Feature Request: 'Undo' a savefile deletion.
(out of hibernation to make an important point) There's a HUGE difference between a confirmation message ("Do you really want to delete this?") and an undo button. Let's say I have ten saves I want to delete, and one I don't. With a confirmation message, I have two options: don't check &qu...

Re: A question about Necromancers...
The L1 WC is called "Soulless" for a reason, I'm sure. Sure, because it makes the necromancer feel better to say it doesn't have one. It doesn't mean it literally doesn't have one. Just like you can call undead "lifeless", but they clearly do have life, in a sense, just not life...

Re: 1 question
Inertia, basically. I cut out the racial prefixes for all IE units and it looks much cleaner.

Re: A question about Necromancers...
The impression I got was that skeletons and WCs have no souls entrapped - they're just robots made out of dead flesh and bone. Ghouls are implied to be made of living people though - but that's no proof that the soul remains in the body after the transformation, I guess this is one interpretation, ...

Re: A question about Necromancers...
About the slavery issue: I dunno about you, but it would take a really good reason to convince me to keep living in my body working for some random necromancer who summoned me, and I suspect it's the same for most people. In fact, it would basically have to be "help me prevent the entire world ...

Re: Some sketches
IMO they're different enough from the orc houses doofus is working on to deserve a separate terrain type. After all, the most frustrating thing for map designers is wanting to put on one kind of village but being forced to have another because of where the village is located on the map. Indeed, they...

Re: Border of Puzzle and Strategy
Wesnoth is certainly less puzzle than Fire Emblem. Once you're more complex than that, IMO, then for campaign play the puzzle aspect's not that important - though I don't play campaigns religiously, I mostly play for the plot and rarely replay campaigns after I know what happens. I suppose if you di...

Re: Epic of Vaniyera
Difficulty : From a point of view of person with no Imperial Era experience - at least challenging. It takes a while to catch how *not* to play the Sidhe and it requires getting over some natural wesnoth habits. This makes first playable scenario (Ambush) harder than it probably should be, I can im...

Re: Manual redraft
What you've said means the early-finish bonus is canceled out if one captures all the villages. Not exactly. Because of upkeep, if you have too many units you'll still get more gold from ending the scenario early than from milking XP. But I agree, it's not a good idea to try to explain all these de...

Re: Manual redraft
1.3.8: "In fact, you will always gain more gold from winning early than you will from capturing every village on the map and holding them until the scenario's turns run out." I don't think this is always true. In TSG's Into the Depths (using 1.5.12), for example, I recall finding once tha...

Holy ... ! It doesn't work ! And my windows, it's a regular one ! I'm going to try to explain by words. Re: May a shareware mod be created?
Does that mean that technically you can't edit someone else's unit and scenario files into your own unit and scenario files - you know, the basic way we tell everyone to learn WML and start creating their campaign? Nope, people are allowed to do that, as long as they release their resulting work un...
