Re: [In Progress] 2020 Wesnoth Life Cup
It shouldn't be [In Progress], it should be [Open]. English-speaking players and Russian-speaking are going to play two separate subtournaments. Thus, it is only possible for an English-speaking player to play against a Russian-speaking player in the finals. What if someone speaks both English and R...

Re: older ones all gone?
Yes, there are way fewer players than there used to be. You can notice it not only on the MP server, but also when you look at the Ladder (where used to be more than 100 rated players, now there are 20) or on Google Trends . I think it is because there are more free-to-play games. Just look at Steam...

Re: [Complete] "Stay at home!" - the 2020 Wesnoth coronavirus tournament.
My nominations for the Best Games Contest are: Category 1: The most epic games 8) Round 4: Boy vs Baltese_Windragon - Undead vs Drakes on Elensefar Courtyard Boy came back from a nearly lost position and the game was full of combat. Round 10: NanRoig vs Danniel_BR - Rebels vs Drakes on Ruphus Isle T...

Re: [Complete] "Stay at home!" - the 2020 Wesnoth coronavirus tournament.
First of all, I want to repeat: Ruphus Isle is VERY bad map for tournament (actually, it's just bad). What precisely is wrong about it? So, my mainline position: this tournament was far from fairness. Actually, all Wesnoth tournaments are not fair in general. Nope, I am not saying that all results ...

[Complete] "Stay at home!" - the 2020 Wesnoth coronavirus tournament.
I've created a table with all games played. This table could be saved as CSV format and after that there is possibility to make SQL-like queries to CSV-table. I'll probably do this and will show some interesting analytics about tournament. That would be great :) Looking forward to seeing it! THE FI...

Re: [In progress] "Stay at home!" - the 2020 Wesnoth coronavirus tournament.
at replay file there is xml block which shows what maps was checked before game begins. That's true, but it would be much easier if that information is shown on the screen (e.g. as a chat message in the top left corner). On the other hand, writing a wall of text is not a good user experience. I wil...

Re: [In progress] "Stay at home!" - the 2020 Wesnoth coronavirus tournament.
No mirror: ON Shuffle sides: ON No mirror implies random. Not really. You can play a game with No Mirror and pick either side. For the sake of clarity, choosing a faction in this tournament is completely fine. As Danniel_BR mentioned, when you pick a faction you help your opponent by telling him wh...

Re: [In progress] "Stay at home!" - the 2020 Wesnoth coronavirus tournament.
What if Dauntless and Caritas both win? Then we will have the 3 top players in equal points. If so, Daunt wins with his ladder pontuation Not really, Median Bucholz goes eariler. It tells you how strong were the opponents of the player. To calculate it I add up the player's opponents scores excludi...

Re: [In progress] "Stay at home!" - the 2020 Wesnoth coronavirus tournament.
So, will computer put me against Daunt for us to decide on last round for the crowd? =D If nobody objects to it, I will introduce the rule that for the round 11, players will be paired without using the Swiss-system algorithm. Instead, pairings would look according to the standings after round 10: ...
