Re: [avoid] versus [hidden]

[avoid] and ambush are not related. You can ambush AI units just like human controlled units regardless of AI settings. Regarding how the AI handles [avoid]: I'm pretty sure it just does not target hexes it should avoid. The path to the target can contain avoided hexes and thus any kind of move inte...

Re: Add-on resources question: has this been done already?

As a side project to continuing campaign development I thought I'd start building a generic single player campaign resource file with the working title SPUR (Single Player UMC Resources). I'm staring with optional music tracks * that if present, SPUR-aware campaign(s) will use automatically in addi...

Re: server using an insecure connection

You're connecting to 127.195.1.114 which is a loopback address. Whatever you're doing there you need to change it so you don't connect through a loopback interface.

Re: server using an insecure connection

Connect with the host name (server.wesnoth.org) not the IP address.

Scheduled wesnoth.org downtime for June 16th 2023 at 16:00 UTC

On Friday, June 16th 2023, at 16:00 UTC, all wesnoth.org services will go down for maintenance for a while including multiplayer and add-ons servers. We expect a minimum downtime between 1 and 2 hours.

The alternate multiplayer server server2.wesnoth.org will remain online during the downtime.

Re: [mainline] there is a need for a en_US translation

In case of "completely new domains" [in dev branch], the translation team can of course already start the work on that domain and only send in that file So working early on the dev branch for new textdomains is actually the standard process. That meets the requirement that domains with se...

Sounds like install-pytools does not work correctly. I'm guessing that is never tested. You could open a bug report about it.

Re: [engine] ruined village suggestion

I think maybe the error message is spurious, or perhaps it's a bug in Wesnoth, because I can see the same error message in mainline. For example, the following save file gives me the error message Error while loading the map: Unknown tile in map: (Cyd) 'Cyd' . But it still loads OK... UtBS-A Stirri...

Looks like a bug. Better post this at https://bugs.wesnoth.org with instructions on how to reproduce it.

Note that on Linux you can also accomplish this using a network namespace.

Re: Where is documentation for wesnoth.map.filter?

wesnoth.map.filter takes two arguments. Second argument is optional. A comment says "lua table that describes the filter resources". No clue what that means in practice. Hard to tell just from reading the code. I guess you can somehow use that table inside the filter.

Re: Where is documentation for wesnoth.map.filter?

It's implemented in C++ (over lots of functions and classes...) not in lua. Looks like it builds an internal representation of a terrain filter based on the lua table you hand in. What is called filter userdata on the wiki. I think if you use wesnoth.map.filter_tags to generate the argument then you...

Re: Wesnoth's Unit Database

The Altera addon has no slayers dir under units/boggarts. The only existing dirs are collectors, commoners and occupiers. Perhaps you're looking at a different version then what was uploaded.

If you're talking about 1.14 then you also need to look at 1.14 on units.wesnoth.org.

Re: Wesnoth's Unit Database

Altera (newer development branch of "Altered era/ruleset") is missing from 1.16 unit database while it is still present in 1.14 unit database - is it by design? if so then please include Altera instead as it is newer You can click on Build Report to see an overview. Addons with parse erro...
