Horse unit animation clones

Post by Jetrel »

Since sleepwalker is rather close to being done, I think we can safely get this party started. I'm personally diving into the lancer, but the knight has a base-frame posted in this other thread, and is ready to have someone attack it. The effort in that other thread kinda died out; I'd rather not do these alone.

I'll get the other base frames posted soon; the cavalrymen still need some touchups, and the elves aren't even started.

Here's a beginning to the clone of the se run animation, mostly being posted just to encourage people out there.

Should be done, now, unless I've overlooked anything.

Looks great.

Just a single issue from the peanut gallery:
The horse's head isn't changing its angle a single bit.
I know that the horse will try to look forward but is it able to keep the head that straight?
It looks a little stiff to me.

Since we are still so early in the course of this, we could consider fixing this. I was thinking the same thing as I cloned this. Most likely, the horse would tilt it's head down a touch, but I should review some reference material before voicing a "real" opinion.

Here's my take on head movement.

NE standing frame. Any minor "nip-and-tuck" tweaks are welcome.

I'm aware that it's probably an artefact of the transition onto a very light background, but the lance looks ever-so-slightly bent in the ne frame... And indeed, just the tiniest bit in the se frame.

The flag movement is just lovely, though.

Yeah, I see that too; I'll see what I can do (the flange is also a little asymmetrical).

Good work 8). With emphasis on the barding cloth (or what is it really called?) flapping. I'll adapt the head changing angle to the horseman.
Sometimes we must be hurt in order to grow, fail in order to know, lose in order to gain, and sometimes we must have to be broken so we can be whole again...

Cool.

I'm hoping to take another bite out of this, soonish.
