Wesnoth Tournament for Teams and Not-Teams
2019 edition

The organizer of the tournament - EarthCake
The organizer assistants - Talos, igorbat99, gnidaoLer
Game version - 1.14

Format
It's an elimination tournament.

Who can participate?
Teams of two players. They don't have to be from the same country.
Every other player.

Deadlines, terms, other time conditions
Each team have to play one game during each calendar week. The team or player can skip 3 games in total, of which only one can be before 1/4. The game days is Saturday and Sunday. The game must be played at least for 3 hours (if not finished. If game finishes and someone wins, then it is, well, game over.), if any player needs to go in this 3 hours, it will be as walkover for another team (player), and the player who could play more will be proclaimed as winner. After 3 hours, if somebody must leave, the game will be saved.
Maximum one skip is allowed during the one tournament stage (e.g. 1/16, 1/8). To take a skip, you must inform the organizer or any assistant until Friday 6 p.m. (18:00 UTC).

A number of games in the round depends on which stage of the tournament it is:
1/2, the third place match - Best of 1 (1 game);
Final - Best of 3 (2 or 3 games).
The tournament starts on 22-23 June and will end approximately in September.

Team rating
Team rating is calculated as following:
Ladder ELO of Player 1 + Ladder ELO of Player 2
If any of ELO rating doesn't exists, the 1500 ELO will be used.

Player rating is calculated as following:
Ladder ELO of Player 1
If ELO rating doesn't exist, the 1500 ELO will be used.

Toss (draw) rules
Standard draw by numbers. Numbers will be maked by Elo rating of player (team) on the ladder. Ie. team with the biggest Elo will be number 1 etc.

Game organization
As described above, the games will be played at the same time every week. You must not host the game. The organizers will do it for you. You need to PM to an organizer when you will play your game. The games will be played on Saturday and Sunday.

Sure, I'll play! My faction shall be... Rebels.
Btw, wouldn't the topic be better placed in the User's Forum instead of the development section?

Sorry if that is off-topic. It would be very fun to me to play a friendly tournament with developers, moderators, forum users who are casual players. However, I am not a competitive player. Playing with top gamers won't be fun neither for them nor for me.

Two things make me think that way.
1) I read recent Main Factions Balance topic. It looks like this tournament aims to prove something (about the balance of factions, player skills, or both)
2) I did some research on the participants.

I would say you are probably stronger than any casual player. And your teammate is even stronger. Sorry man, you've asked and I couldn't stop digging :)

No, I try to make this to not be competitive. Of course it will be like a tournament, but I will try to make a friendly atmosphere.

No, that is not the point of this tournament. Point of it is fun.

I discussed about tournaments with OrcSlayer and he says he misses them, so I came to this idea.
That link and rule about choosing the faction is here only if a player has bad luck and gets faction he doesn't know how to play with. If players think this should be changed to only random please tell that in this topic. Also, I don't even read that topic anymore.
