Network play between a w2k and linux (suse) box

Post by altzar »

I installed .7.7 onto a linux machine (suse 9.1) and on a windows 2000 machine.
No matter who hosts the game, the other can't connect to the acting server.

When the linux machine is acting as server I do get these messages:
on the linux server:
buffer from remote host is empty
caught networking error. we are a server

and the windows client says:
network error: bad length data.

If the windows machine acts so the server, neither outputs an error but just time out after awhile.

Any thoughts?

- have you tried playing between the machines by using the server? (devsrv.wesnoth.org -- or install wesnothd on the GNU/Linux machine).

- do you realize that players cannot join the game until you are in the 'waiting for players to join' area of the lobby? (i.e. not the map selection phase)

it works between windows and windows machine...just finished testing that part.

the linux machine can connect to the public game servers, just not the local windows machines.

looking like a code issue.....

At what point you try to connect the windows machines? When it is saying "waiting for players" ?
