Oh come on, can't it be used just for rule of cool? It'd be a rare enough animation not to be too much of a problem imo.

Yeah, it probably could be... personally, I'd suggest that other things could be prioritised over it, however.

oh, sure, there are at least a hundred more useful things... but that doesn't change the fact that it's distilled awesome and even the player whose unit just went flipping through the air is going to feel better about that bit of slaughter.

It would be hilarious for someone to see this for the first time, "Oh look this saurian is gonna die to..." 15+ damage "Whoa... what just happened?!"
And as for the "it would only be a uppercut death" thingy, couldn't it also be from say... A Dwarf's Thunderstick?
"Do YOU know the muffin man?"
."Don't wake me if I'm dreaming."
.."Even words can drive a man to madness."

let's wire it to impact damage, that's what has the best realistic/complexity ratio...

Perhaps make it the animation for any attack that deals more than one third of the unit's total health when killing it?

Don't forget pierce. As Jack Barber said, the death would work for an arrow or bullet.

Feel free to finish that. I mean, that's naturally going to be something we can't consistently get done for multiple units, but it's a wonderful easter egg - much like "ulfzerker vs adept".

It should be reserved for very rare situations; preferably ones where the attacker does something like 16+ damage in one blow. For reasons of simplicity, we can stick to using it on everything that does that much damage.

Furthermore, for obvious reasons, this shouldn't get played for northerly facings.

Runesmith line committed, and the whole unit line moved to core.

Thanks zookeeper, you might want the the png's for the attack too. Never posted them . Here's the defend frames as well. One can see the glow much better on this animation.

As for the rest, IIRWIIR.

Got it. But what's happening to his skirt-thing in the defend animation? It looks like it's glowing or something.

I think it's reflecting light from a source slightly above the camera. It's metal/plate so it shines.

Good that you think so :D . Yeah its glowing, but not from reflections. It's going with the magical runes theme. Protecting from blows and guiding the hammer swing. Though on the attack animation it is not as apparent. Hope this sits well and isn't too weird.

Ok, committed both (after mirroring and tweaking the dimensions a bit).
