An observation on map dimensions
I've noticed for a while now that square maps (e.g. 40x40) with 4 players situated at the corners don't appear to be really square. The west/east sides always meet earlier.
This is due to the hex nature of the maps. 3 hexes north/south are the same distance in actual cm as 4 hexes east/west.
Testing this with a random map set to 60x45 I found that north and south met on the same turn as west and east. So for random maps the best dimensions for 4 play is 4x3 (times something of course) for a balanced 4 way fight.
Naturally hexagonally shaped maps (such as Inanna's classics) are the best for 6.
