Connection Fail: certificate verify fail (SSL routines) - muliplayer
Hello
My friend have a problem with multiplayer game so I write here to help him.
While choosing an option "Connect with official server" he can not connect with server - he gets the communicate "Connection Fail: certificate verify fail (SSL routines)".
The problem happens just after clicking connection - he cannot even put his password to his account.
The same problem is when choosing "Connect to server option".
OS Windows 10
Wesnoth 1.16.10 version, but happens also on previous installments.
We tried to:
- switch wifi off and on
- switch off and on internet connection
- reinstall the game
- install version previous to 1.16 - the same problem there.
Wesnoth was installed for a first time on this machine but my friend didnt have such a problem on his previous laptop.
We appreciate any help as we cannot play on multiplayer.
I added error screen (text is half in Polish) and log with internet connection data.

Re: Connection Fail: certificate verify fail (SSL routines) - muliplayer
ok, but what else is needed? I can't clearly see what else is missing.
I thought I gave all information listed in the above article.
Game is installed from wesnoth.org webpage.
I will supply build information soon as I get it.
Problem happens just after clicking "Connect with official server" to enter multiplayer lobby but before giving password data.

On the lower left corner of the build info dialog, there's a button to copy the full set of information to your clipboard, which you can then paste here. For example, mine looks like:

Sorry, missed the new post notification somehow.
From the log, you can see the error
From the log, you can see the error
Verifying TLS certificate: /C=US/O=Internet Security Research Group/CN=ISRG Root X1: failed
. This apparently happened because it's still using DST Root CA X3
: Issuer: O=Digital Signature Trust Co., CN=DST Root CA X3
, which expired a while ago already. The version of Windows is definitely new enough that it have should have automatically pulled in the updated cert needed, so you'll need to either figure out why it didn't do that or install the updated cert manually.99 little bugs in the code, 99 little bugs
