I wonder what would happen if some computer genius wrote a bot that would lurk in forums low profile, only to emerge to say something both witty and ironic a week after the last post in a thread was made... I wonder...
I will now resume lurking silently.

You know, we've had four or five bots in the last month. This, afaik, is an unprecedented occurrence. Why would bots be choosing to invade our forums now of all times?

Really? I count 13 since August 1st, and I think that's actually low because of the new captcha system.

You have no idea how many bots are banned every month before any user spots them.

How do you tell they're bots before they get noticed? (Since this seems to have become a thread for just general discussion about bots)

Sorry if it's kind of a dumb question; this is actually the only forum I'm even involved in at all.

I think it might be the bot-tests that everyone goes through before they register? IDK.

You don't. You just notice them before users do.

Well, what happens if you, like, make a mistake and ban a real user? :|

Okay lol, but generally, a person can contact a Mod or Admin and get their account back.

Dunno, but I guess they could e-mail a mod or go whine on IRC.
