Whats Happening with EI

Post by turin »

This is The Eastern Invasion's To Do list (some of these, like portraits, are out of my control, but hopefully will be forthcoming).

I will try to work on as much of this as possible... but school does exist. :)

Scenario balancing:
  • Mal-Ravanal's Capital
    The Crossing
    Evacuation
    Approaching Weldyn
    Weldyn Under Attack
    The Duel
    Weldyn Besieged
Plot Changes:
  • Mal-Ravanal's Capital
    Approaching Weldyn
    The Council
    The Duel
    Weldyn Besieged

This is The Eastern Invasion's wish list: (what i want but don't control).

New Images:
  • Gweddry portrait
    Owaec portrait
    Mal-Ravanal (but not as important as the others)
    (hopefully) have map merged with main wesnoth map by someone more skilled artistically than me.
    basically all of the story images.

    unit images for Owaec:
    * lvl 1 :)
    * lvl 2 :)
    * lvl 3 :)

    unit images for Dacyn:
    * lvl 2
    * lvl3
New WML Features:
  • "terrain=" in SUF [1]
    have [role] use SUF
New Units:
  • level 1 owaec
    level 2 owaec
    level 3 owaec

    level 2 dacyn
    level 3 dacyn

    level 3 ogre (working name Brutal Ogre) :)

    deathblade :)

    crypt guardian :)
( :) s go next to items that are done but are not as yet in-game)

I could try doing the lv.3 ogre.... I`ll bring the first version at weekend.
(Will he use the same weapon?)

If you take a crack at this, try to give him striped pants if you don't mind. There is an inside joke that predates TROW that the Ogres saw Haldric in striped pants, thought that they made him stronger, so they all started to wear them as well... Don't ask me where it came from... But, if you look real close at Lv. 3 Haldric you'll still see faint pink stripes on his pants...

SUF - "standard unit filter", mentioned in the wiki. It is the set of keys which can be used in [filter] tags, and it can also be used in several action (subtag of [event]) tags.

hm... actually, you know, neoriceisgood has already drawn a level 3 ogre. (it does have stripes). what we need are stats.

(i'll see if i can find it somewhere...)

Maybe i`ll finish mine anyway. I had awesome idea for the attack frame....(first he would pull his sword up and swing his opponent in half ). Well, i will post my unfinished version, so that you can see what i am trying to do,,,

EDIT: err.... i mean that is good that such a talented artist as neoricegood has already made a lv3 ogre. But it is bad thing for me because i have no chances against him. I`m going to finish my image thought, just for fun :)

I have an idea about that, which wouldn't interfere with its current usage at all, and should be easy to implement. Allow a [filter] tag inside [role], which if present, makes it ignore any units which don't fit the filter. This way, for example, you could have

Code: Select all

[role]
type=Great Mage,Mage of Light,Silver Mage#...
role=mage_to_recall
  [filter]
    [not]
    description=Dacyn
    [/not]
  [/filter]
[/role]
And it would still prefer Great Mages to Mages of Light, Mages of Light to Silver Mages, etc, and you could get a Mage of Light other than Dacyn, but you wouldn't get Dacyn.

This also allows you to put type= and role= in the SUF (although it would be kind of silly to do so)
Play a Silver Mage in the Wesvoid campaign.

what exactly would the "terrain= " filter do ?
would it filter on the underlying terrain type ?

what exactly do you meand by [role] using SUF ?

have SUF keys and tags be interpreted when they are in [role], so that you can use them to filter on who can get a role.

yes.

i would use it in Weldyn Under Attack, where i want it so if you move onto terrain type "y", it turns it into "r". right now i do it using x= y={a list of all the locations of terrain "y"}, but it seems this is kind of pointless, and i think there should be a way to do it better.
Boucman wrote:what exactly do you meand by [role] using SUF ?
the [role] tag does not currently use SUF. this means you cannot use [not], etc in it. IIRC you can only do type= and side=... IMO this should be changed.

I'm all with you on this.

Looking at the files in webcvs, I found this bug:

Code: Select all

		[unit]
		type=Lich
		side=9
		description=Messenger 0f Doom
		x=20
		y=1
		[/unit]
should be

Code: Select all

		[unit]
		type=Lich
		side=9
		description=Messenger of Doom
		x=20
		y=1
		[/unit]
Also, you go by terrain with y. But on the map, there is no y.

With the striped pants on the ogres, that is stupid IMO.

How many times must this bug be reported! It is supposed to be 'y'.

There is a difference between zero and o.

Also, I mean that there is no y terrain on the scenario map.
