Advent Calendar III: Tiny Little Advent Calendar

Post by Heindal »

Well, it is this time of the year again. To (hopefully) lighten up the dark time, I decided to make another advent calendar. This year the topic is tiny little animal pictures, that can be used for units or decoration for your add-ons or games. They have no means to be perfect or great art, but I hope you will like them either way.

The Advent Calendar will be updated hopefully each day, until Christmas.
Have a nice time.

Day 1. I started with probably one of the most challenging animals to draw - the fox.

Day 2. A cat. Not an easy task. Keeping the size of 72*72 and trying to make a small animal in pixel art is really a challenge I underestimated.
I will probably overwork and animate it in a later version.

Day 3. Duck in pond, Duck in pond ... da da da ... da, da da da.

Day 4. A Yak (still looks a little bit like a donkey). Will update later.

Day 5. A deer. Always wanted to add something like that to a campaign.

Day 12. Owl. A try, I'm not quite convinced, a little bit to big.

Day 13. A swan.
Schwan.png

Day 14. A Husky, will probably use this for my dog unit (companion in Strange Legacy), which can advance to a variety of dog types. A little bit too big, like the swan. (Monsterswan destroys village. Swanzilla sighted again. Huskytra joins her in her ways of destruction.)

Day 15. An Elefant. You might see the problems with the sizes of the animals before? On the other hand, it could be an 'elfantesque' swan/husky .... For this image I started to draw the shape in black, which seems to be a better strategy for bigger animals.

Day 18. A chicken (Rooster). Wanted to draw a crocodile, but it came out as a chicken. (a joke). I want to use this one in one of my add-ons where you can breed chicken. Its astounding that some especially the smaller animals are really fun to make.

Day 19. A chick, or baby bird. A spontaneous idea, after the faucet yesterday, but nevertheless cute. It seems that you have to use extreme colors (black, white, bright) for these very little animals so that the details can be seen.

Hi Atreides,

yeah, my bad. It wasn't even a deepl search, I just googled "Hahn english". It was late at night and I wanted to sleep.
Eat an Elephant and all the others together? You must have an obeliskesque (and yes thats a word) stomach. ;)

For the others: :eng: Note that, in German faucet and rooster are the same word.

Oh not bad at all. Translation errors are one of the great comedy sources!

I do have an iron stomach but I should not need it since the consumption is digital. ; ) I think I wrote that nonsense because this year I don't have a real advents kalender. They are now-a-days freely available in Canada but the prices range from the too cheap (had one of those last year, was not happy) to the insanely overpriced and nothing in-between!

Frohe Weihnacht!

Yeah, there is a wide range of advent calendars. So I tried to provide one for free, for everybody with a topic that might be interesting for everybody (and a challenge for myself - I'm not good in drawing).

Merry Christmas

Your birds are pretty good IMHO. The Heron is the best I think so far. But then I almost failed art class in High School so...

I suspect the universe is simpler than we think and stranger than we can know.
Also, I fear that beyond a certain point more intelligence does not necessarily benefit a species...
