Re: [mainline] there is a need for a en_US translation
we don't actually use the official po files, only merge the official pot templates with the existing po files in our repository This is standard for gettext as I understand – the "official po files" are basically whatever you sent us last. I think there are two ways for translators to man...

Re: [mainline] there is a need for a en_US translation
cs , it and zh_CN explicitly want to deal with the fuzzies themselves, and don't want tooling to hide fuzzies, even for changes that are just typo fixes in the source. Yes, I think zh_CN doesn't need the auto-fixing, and while I said above that "the auto-fix tool should preferably be run by tr...

Re: [mainline] there is a need for a en_US translation
I think there are three problems that this thread tried/is trying to find a solution for: 1. Flavored messages might be too hard to translate. 2. Minor message updates create unnecessary work for translators working on the project . 3. Minor message updates invalidate perfectly/mostly working transl...

Re: [mainline] there is a need for a en_US translation
Yes there's some small issues on the dev side with forgetting to update the WML file when necessary but on the flip side this would be really useful for me. I've actually hesitated to add more "flavor" to the text in some areas like Liberty because I was worried people would be completely...

Re: [mainline] there is a need for a en_US translation
As the Simplified Chinese translation maintainer, IMHO, having a separate en_US translation is not the way to go. "Flavored" and "unflavored" versions of the "same" message, are ultimately, different , as the "flavor" itself, or lack there of, is part of the i...

Re: Wesnoth.po translation and multiplayer maps names
While what you say is correct, that won't produce the same results in the new style as it would have in the old style. With the old style, Alice,Bob,Carol,Dave,... generates a name that is similar to the names in the list; it often produces names that aren't actually on the list. However, with the ...

Re: Wesnoth.po translation and multiplayer maps names
I believe the old style generator strings can be directly transformed to the new style. The old style Alice,Bob,Carol,Dave,... can now be main=Alice|Bob|Carol|Dave|... I used this in the Simplified Chinese translation for some new original strings (as in, transforming the old translated strings dire...

Simplified Chinese translations moved to Github
Hello all! Today the Simplified Chinese translations of Wesnoth is moved from Google Code to Github . We are now working on the translations for 1.12 mainline. Participation is welcomed. :) Discussions of the game are mainly happening in Baidu tieba , while the activity seems minimal on wesnoth.cn ....

Re: A proposal for replacing the default CJK font
The problem is that Axalara wants to display Chinese correctly in the English locale, while the font order is only correct for Chinese in the Chinese locale (because the font order is only correctly 'translated' when using Chinese.) Oh, FYI cloudi, I only send that screenshots to you to display the...

Re: A proposal for replacing the default CJK font
But there is only one place where any string using the Chinese font can appear: the language selection. That's it, every other place only appears in Chinese when the Chinese locate is selected! Or is this exactly where you see a problem in how things are currently handled? Since for anything else i...

Re: A proposal for replacing the default CJK font
The problem is there should be no need for editing the fonts.cfg file since the translation already comes with the correct string. Meaning: it was translated and *SHOULD* work as expected. If you change the font order in the config file and this makes a difference, then there is obviously a bug in ...

Re: A proposal for replacing the default CJK font
Thank you bro. Does not bother. As you can see in the screenshot, I use english version. I tested chinese version in a whim and stumble upon with this displaying bug. If you can slve it then all is well; if not that is still ok. Just out of curiosity: why does Japanese fonts have displaying priorit...

Re: A proposal for replacing the default CJK font
Cloudi, this is what I have found. I do not know any techniques to fix it. Please reply 未命名.JPG Sorry for this late reply. When you play the game in English, the Japanese font (Droid Sans Japanese) takes precedence over the Chinese font (Droid Sans Fallback), and some Chinese characters are display...

Re: A proposal for replacing the default CJK font
The testing package for three more Japanese fonts is ready. http://wesnoth-translation-cn.googlecode.com/files/wesnoth_ja_fonts.tar.bz2 This package includes the following fonts: Sazanami Gothic, Motoya L Cedar, Motoya L Maru Sazanami is reintroduced because players on 2ch asked for it, and my tests...

Re: A proposal for replacing the default CJK font
Okay, so what is the status with this one? Is the general agreement that this change should be done and what exactly should I commit? I am asking this since I'd like to release rc1 in about 30h and any change this big *not* added in rc1 is too late for 1.10.0 and has to wait for 1.10.1, the first b...
