Re: Secrets of the Ancients - Blackwater (05)
The two times I played the campaigns, i beat that scenario using a lot of skeleton acher spam. They're nearly immune to retaliation from bowmen, quite effective against the cavalry and pretty resistant to the spearmans attack. Keep a few normal skeleton fighters to maul mages. Also use the bone cap...

Secrets of the Ancients - Blackwater (05)
Hey, I just started playing Wesnoth again to play the newest campaign, which I heard was available. I'm really stuck on the fifth scenario though, Blackwater, in which you've got to fight lots of Loyalists. I read the Walkthrough from our support section, and that mentions recruiting lots of Skeleto...

I don't know why I made this, but I already know this is the worst kind of ship.

Re: Scenario 9: Houses of the Dead
The problem with Delfador not being able to finish the scenario has been fixed in 1.13.5+dev. A number of corrections are in the pipeline; some may make it in, some may not. They mainly have to do with outright bugs and logic problems such as handling things not done in the expected order. On the q...

Re: Scenario 9: Houses of the Dead
It doesn't seem like a lot has changed in this scenario over the years, judging by the previous posts. In 1.13.5, I can't end the scenario at all, as reaching the signpost only causes Delfador to comment on how he needs to retrieve the artifact, regardless of whether or not I actually have it. Perha...

Re: [1.9.x/1.10.x] Legend of Wesmere
Shouldn't the deaths.cfg entry for loyal units filter out your essential/leader characters? For example, if Cleodil dies, then she and Kalenz have their special death dialogue exchange, and then the one for non-essential loyals right after it. Even more ridiculous is if Kalenz dies, he starts talkin...

Re: Change Dawn/Dusk sounds to the "Turn Bell" section
For now you can find the silence.ogg in core/music/ and copy it over to core/sounds/ambient/ to replace morning.ogg and night.ogg (those 2 contain the rooster and owl) Also, i agree that this should able to get turned off. Yeah, I was thinking of doing that to tide me over for now. Thanks for the f...

Change Dawn/Dusk sounds to the "Turn Bell" section
Hey, I play Wesnoth with volume settings pretty low compared to any music I've got going on, or any other sound that's running. Every time the turn changes to Dawn or Dusk though, the sound of crickets/owls/etc is overpowering and distracting. I've turned off the Turn Bell sounds in the options menu...

Re: Dead Water - Flight Strategy
Now compare this hard fought result with the obvious choice: running away. Was it really worth it? I know it seems kinda dumb, but it was a nice and fun challenge. The bats and the ring were useful rewards for sure, especially the Undead Bat, which I previously thought was just a joke. The plague s...

Re: ForestDragon's Art
decided to make female sprites for Brigand line (since they now will have FoaP Rogue Knight as their opt. branch, also, since they are outlaw peasants, it's logical that it can be both men and women): brigand+female.png raider+female.png also, made male rogue knight (lvl3 has a helmet, so they use ...

Re: Dead Water - Flight Strategy
Sire: Thanks for advertising my thread :) Though in that playthrough I only defeated the southwest leader (since defeating all leaders on Nightmare isn't realistic). Goatgoat: Nice job getting Krellis to level 2 already! Some advice from watching your attempt - try not to send units off on their ow...

Dead Water - Flight Strategy
Hello all. I've came back to playing some Wesnoth campaigns after a long hiatus, and since I really liked Dead Water, I thought I'd try it on Normal. I'm pretty terrible at the game, so anything apart from the easiest difficulty is asking a lot from me. Anyway, I'd like in this scenario to defeat Ma...

Re: Putting campaign units into mainline?
Sorry for the necrobump, but I'd like to add that I really like Dead Water's custom units. The sprites for them look great, and I really liked the Merman King line. Only odd thing would be the King's aging being related to level. It makes sense for the campaign, but not much for other scenarios or m...

Re: time waster top down rpg?
Have you heard of FLARE before? http://flarerpg.org/ It's not quite top down (it's Isometric), and the graphics aren't pixel art. I remember playing it years and years ago, back when it was at like, v0.10. But you can go around and smash up monsters at your own will, go back for a quest, etc. No ide...

Re: [HttT] Keeping Merfolk Alive
A fairly reliable way to keep all merfolk alive in Bay of Pearls is to retreat them all south onto land during the first dusk/night; the nagas will follow onto land where they have poor defense and are easily wiped out by your land forces. Then at the next dawn/day, you can send the merfolk safely ...
