I managed to win against Fred 0.14.14! (He got 125 starting gold, +3 or +2 per turn). The matchup was in his favor, I think: he had Northerners and I had elves. Well idk about the dull part but the badly setup part is certainly an exaggeration. There's room for water units, undead, dwarves, you name it whatever you wish can be accomplished. Ofc, you are not obliged to play it, try some pvp games instead.

There are no deserts or sand dunes in Elensfar thats what i was saying, the sand is the problem. Also use the embellishments more often, things like farmlands and fences, and mountain tiles should be surrounded by hill tiles and by forests or him forests (place hill + shift). Yeah the rug was a bad idea, thanks for your observations! About the embellishments, that will be easy to implement,np there. About the villages, I'm still working on the exact placement of them. New PRs are created against master, but I'll backport it to 1.14 too after merging to master. To get Guardsmen you need to save the ally leader in The Lost General (that's documented in the walkthrough, and in the HttT secrets ). For 1.16, heh? It's great. Just have it there as a note. The knights are a big help in the final battle so a hint can't hurt. Something entirely unrelated, why didn't i have dwarvish guardsmen in my recruit list after i met the dwarves? Was this a bug or were they intentionally removed?

Umm, not sure what to suggest here, English is not my native language, something along the lines: "Leaders that you defeat join you in the subsequent scenario" in the notes would suffice.
