Re: Healing Terrains
Check out some custom eras like the elemental faction that gets healed on vegetation. It can of course be done for just mushrooms too but I know of none at the moment.

Re: Now THIS is funny
I've been a programmer for nigh unto 50 years, and some of these errors are just weird. I mean, let's face it, if you're stealing somebody's working code for your own program, it ought to work, n'est ce pas? -- Mal Shoot. If that's true you're likely older than me even. 8- > I took my first FORTRAN...

Re: status: needs_cure
Crazy idea: Add events to add poisoned status to custom diseased units for the duration of the movement only. Remove it before it does any damage at start of turn. Then add it again, and so on. Yes, a workaround, I do think the new status could be quite useful. I know of a few custom eras that have ...

Re: Defense of (ruined?) castle tiles
In any case I recall that you can make any hex a recruitment spot, no matter what terrain it is. Yes, with a castle overlay. But it doesn't change the way the tile looks so the player only knows if they think to check. I tried placing an image over one, but it doesn't look right. A real castle tile...

Re: Defense of (ruined?) castle tiles
Ah I see what you mean. You look at a ruined castle and think that is a wreck that doesn't help the defenders. Looks like Wesnoth though decided that it's only a "little" ruined. LOL. I believe it is mainly a cosmetic difference. "Ruined" but still fully functional. Yep, I see wh...

Re: Defense of (ruined?) castle tiles
Is that wise? Making the player think it's a castle but have it work like a swamp? Or is the deception intentional?

Re: Galactic Empires (Wesnoth in Space)
Agree that it access to the upgrades is "uneven". I've grumbled to myself about having to find a researcher (and what happens if they're all dead I wonder) in order to access that one.

Re: Stronger elvish scout
Can they refuse to use it when it is the Reb's only scout? I suspect that it is by design to weaken the faction.

Re: Stronger elvish scout
I believe the general rule for BfW is that scouts are supposed to be weak.
Plenty of custom eras don't follow that pattern though.

Re: Wesnoth 1.18.0 — Draconic Invasions Update
Aye that's the one! I ought to have had it memorized with how often I used to see it. : ) Like I wrote it's basically an annoyance for log checkers, far as I can tell it doesn't affect the appearance of the sprite.Pentarctagon wrote: ↑March 31st, 2024, 12:38 am Was it thelibpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile

Re: Wesnoth 1.18.0 — Draconic Invasions Update
Addendum: I tried trimage on the wose portrait (1.16 PNG) and got 0 compression so it seems to be the same as what's been used but only on portraits I guess. I've run trimage on all the sprites in all the eras I maintain and it has generally led to a 1 MB size reduction for larger addon eras. In the...

Re: Era of Four Moons
It hasn't been ported to 1.18 yet but you could just copy your 1.16 files over. 1.18 has made few changes that affect addon eras.

Out of curiosity I ran trimage on the core wose.png sprite. 17.1% compression.Pentarctagon wrote: ↑March 28th, 2024, 4:30 pm The PNGs were optimized already via https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/blob ... optipng.py, though I don't know how that compares.

Re: Imperial Era
Hmmm my copy has that uppercased. The file also has a later date so I may have fixed this on my copy and shamefully never submitted it to github.
I checked vs 1.14 IE and it seems the id was uppercased for 1.16. Looks like nothing more than an oversight of a missed conversion.
