Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
The wiki claims that units will be stored in order of their internal underlying_id attribute by . That is currently not true with the tag coded in Lua and can cause units to be stored in different orders in the same situation. That, in turn, can lead to OOS errors when orders are different between...
If you just want to cut to the solution, jump to the last section.
The middle section is how I spent my saturday >< figuring out why wesnoth refuses to load custom ai's despite what is written here and in comments at ai/registry.cpp.
Basically you must modify various core files if you wish for...
Why do it? when work in server mode, consider below command sequence. Assume min_threads = 2.
Thread#1 detect outgoing_buf isn't empty, so set socket to SOCKET_LOCKED, and send data.
More data push into outgoing_buf, and Thread#2 is waken...
As some of you may already know, I'm registered also to the Wesnoth Italian Forum. There, RockScorpion recently finished translating After the Storm, and asked for help in catching spelling errors. (If you know Italian, or want to take a look with Google Translate, here there is the topic )....
Are there specific guidelines anywhere on how to submit a patch? More specifically, on the format of the patch itself?
I've only submitted one patch, and it was about a year ago. I noticed that people were submitting patches as .diff files, so I read up on how to create .diff files and submitted...
Something that really annoys me playing BfW 1.11 is this line:And I don't understand the reason.
Why should descriptions not include the name as the first line?
What is the problem here?
does somebody of you know what the code of the weapon file of poison is?
I mean these files like absorb.cfg and so on which determine the functions of the special weapons.
I'm sure this is a simple question to answer, but I haven't yet been able to find out through searching the forum.
I'm using an older version of the game (1.7.12, sadly I can't upgrade) and am looking for a little basic info on how the unit defense modifier numbers work, for example what you get...
Lately I've done some experiments with Wesnoth and it struck me that AI never ever bought a spearman with Loyalists. Instead it goes mono bowmen with the rest of army somewhat tuned against enemy.
Also, horseman are a rarity.
Is this a bug? Or is it intended?
Im working on the Easy coding project village naming ( and have discovered that point 1. is already completed and that points 2 and 3 dont make sense to me.
any help is appreciated

I know this must be an inappropriate place to post this question.
I was assigned by my professor to fix this bug. I have spent endless hours trying to find something. While debugging
I ended up in functions like set_cursor(). They are still not really helpful. I can't find out the function that...
How I have told in Introduce yourself here! , I am new at developing in this game.
My goal here is to use this game to get results for my research (master's degree) and maybe help to improve the game.
My research area is Artificial Intelligence (focus in Reinforcement Learning and...
Me and some classmates are currently working on a project to make Wesnoth playable using only one's eyes (using an eyetracker).
Typically the user interacts with buttons etc by staring at them for a certain amount of time. To keep the user from accidentally clicking on things it is common...
As a UMC MP campaign author I've encountered many a bug, as have others (see here for example).
This thread is intended to list all the known bugs with MP campaigns and whether or not they affect the current last major wesnoth developer version (after which I can put them on the bug tracker...
I've got a bit of spare time coming up and would like to have a go at making a patch for an alternate recruit/recall mechanism, partly for fun. The idea is to add the following functionality:
-- if a leader is on a keep, the recruit spots would slightly pulsate with the team color and...
EDIT:
New syntax changes have made it in for wesnoth version 1.11.2. If there are problems or more discussion needed, now seems like a good time in the wesnoth development cycle to do so. Below is the history of these changes, you might want to scroll to near the end of the thread.
Just wanted to ask here what happened to development for bug-free MP campaigns (both UMC and converting some mainline to be played MP as well)? I've heard for a while that features have been planned and I know the Legend of Wesmere has supposed support. However, to get features actually working...
I have been busy modding wmllint, adding new features and changes that I consider improvements. However, a beefed-up wmllint is of limited use while it sits on only one person's computers. Although I am still working on further enhancements, I think it's time to make it downloadable for anybody...
From time to time, I've seen authors announce that they were putting their projects up on Github, making me wonder why they weren't using UMC-Dev, the semi-official platform. I know many in the open-source world prefer git's distributed development model over SVN's centralized commit cabal model....
It is quite annoying that music starts from the beginning every time on main menu. Much better would be if the music is resumed from the last position when the menu was left.
I was trying to compare the speed of WML and lua. For this purpose, I have created a short code with highly repetitive calculations to create something that would take a measurable amount of time, and would be easy to transfer between lua and WML.
This was the code (written in C, because it is the...
After a long break I'm coming back to Wesnoth to try my hand at making some interesting AIs with the new API. One of the things I want to do time and time again is run a scenario from the command-line with e.g. fog of war and scrolling disabled.
I have been working for a few weeks on some ideas I've had for naval combat... until a couple of days I haven't really tried to play test anything. Just snippets here and there to see if things work the way they should.
That's when I realized I have a big problem... the CPU doesn't recruit...
I'm currently thinking about writing a PHP-based map generator.
However, the first step before starting anything is to have some program that can render a wesnoth map and output it in a file (whatever the format: png, jpeg, bmp... it will be post-processed).
