Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...

There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.

There are certain technical requirement for mainline portraits. For easy access, I'm going to sticky them here so people can read them and link to them rather than having to type them out every time they're needed.

Two sizes are needed. One goes in the help, one is...
Welcome to Battle for Wesnoth's Art Forum. This is where a lot of our in-game images get hammered into shape, and is a place designed for the discussion of art designed for use in our game. In this topic, we've listed all the info you'd need to do your own work.
The fire dragon has gone through numerous redesigns, I mean...

So here's my take!

I used the pose of the old skeletal dragon: and the color palette of the second fire dragon.
While the relation between drakes and dragons is kind of vague, my personal...
This thread is for ghoul portraits. As noted in LordBob's 2020 Grand Portrait list, the single image we have shouldn't be forced to cover three units, so we need at least two more.
This first one is a WIP for the ghoul, a naked thing that used to be a person and is ravenous for flesh. I'm still...
I've been trying to find a high-quality version of the wesnoth logo (shield and crossed swords). The best I can find, after looking through the forums and wikis for a while, is the version for localizing the game title, which comes in at 171x189px. Is there a higher-quality version available...
While I was working on my own add-on on creating two different factions for loyalists, one using older sprites and the other the current sprites. I figure that I should contribute my loyalist works I made in my art workshop topic Edwylm's sprite alterations .
I used Status of Loyalist Baseframe as...

Rather than litter the thread with screenshots, I'm just going to put the most recent here. No, I'm going to litter the thread after all.

I was looking into gaps in existing sprites for the standing/bobbing animations ( and realized there were two things the larger community could help with:
1. Bobbing animations are now in two forms
Heaving/panting animations - the sprite starts to breath hard or look exhausted when HP is low -...
I try to create some portraits of aragwaithi (see my introduction column cultural exploration of aragwaithi ), because it involves text, I put it in the writers' Forum partition.
To avoid drawing related responses from the original invitation, the invitation here collects some image feedback.
We have a new commission up for pixel art. Much like our previous saurian commission, we're looking to hire someone to expand the animations of some current units up to spec .
Based on experience with the previous one, we've raised the price on these to $250/unit (and don't worry, sleepwalker got...
It's been far too long since I last painted a portrait, so this is me getting back into it. Still a detailed sketch at the moment. Mace forearm might be a bit short.
The Royal Warrior may not be the most urgent portrait out there, but I've been wanting for a while to give the loyalists a visual...
This is for some edits to get existing things I did that need some work to get in line with the 2020 Grand Portrait List. I'm not editing anyone else's work here, and any new images will be in another thread.
Revision to Naga dirkfang to make it stand out less (though it...
At Jetryl's suggestion and with JAP's inspiration, I'm going to begin to fill my spare time whilst I'm waiting on portrait critique doing various sprites. I'm starting with a cross between a warthog and a wooly mammoth, currently called (most uninspiredly) a tusker, though it will probably get a...
Hello,
I play Battle for Wesnoth since I'm a kid and now I'm able to code, i want to do an extension. However i need to create sprites for new units, and when i try to make sprites with 72x72 res, It doesn't looks like the sprites in the game. (seems more pixelated).
I just wanted to be sure that...
I just got back into this game after several years away and I realized the Haldric sprite looks kinda dated, so I tried to put together a better version.
How does he look?
Hello everyone,
I noticed there are several sprites lacking portraits, and many well-done portraits have been made for these units. However, they have not been mainlined.
There is also plenty of Wesnoth Fanart, which seems realistic based on standards set by Jetryl, Lord Bob, Kitty and others....
Would expanding on either of these potential mainline-replacement sprites be of interest? They're both pretty badly outdated, and losing the few frames of makeshift animation we have on them doesn't feel like too much of a loss.
Here I will present and keep track of the process of developing and finishing the sprites for Dunefolk. I will only note what is left to do and actively update it so every one can see how much is left to do.

Development of this thread is finished for the moment. Might post some updates if needed but all I planned for Dunefolk's Extra Units was done. Here you can see the final state of the units developed in this thread.
mainline still does not have north and north-east attack animations for drakes with spears, tridents and halberds, while having nice animations for south and south-east directions.
did anybody try to make these missing animations, frankensteined or not?
would be happy if anybody can point to any...
I need help to create images for my campaign (animations, frames, idle...) for fiery and glacial units (for both parts: shamans, ranged units, tank units, leaders, guardians, ... ).
if it's NOT possible, is there any fractions or campaign that contain such units that I can use freely?
...
There is inconsistency with appearance of unit shadows in Wesnoth. Apparently the correct color for unit shadows is #160034 with 60% alpha.
However, a lot of the unit sprites are using whatever the artist thought deeming fit to be used as its shadow, most cases those being a bunch of black color...
