I would like to organize a cash tournament that gives 40% to the developers, half to the winners, and 10% for admin fee.

Has that been tried before as a fundraising source? How did it go?

Do you as a developer have any advice about how to do this? Are there existing platforms I could use to organize the tournament under that are respected and above the board?

I have been playing this game on and off since around 2010. It’s a part of my childhood and adolescences and I think it deserves a stronger PVP community. It feels almost like an abstract game focused really on comparing the strategic and tactical prowess of the competitors, like chess or go.

neki tried to organized a sponsored cash tournament once but it was denied by the admins. I think it was like $500 total. I think since then that the admins have come out saying it's ok to do money tournaments, but I could be wrong or it could have changed again. I have considered doing like a $5 buy-in for each participant and then splitting it between the top 3 placements. Might make it so only the same 10 or so top players ever enter those kinds of tournaments though.

I would like to join.
I also think Shadowvail should not be allowed to participate given his history of psychopathic behaviour over the years.
