20181013 01:00:50< gfgtdf> @josteph well i agree that it would clearly ebe better to fix this in a way that doesnt need the umc developer to speicify these things, and that is at least in theory clearly possible, since the most common 'layout engine' (html/js) can do this aswell. 
20181013 01:02:23< gfgtdf> that woudl probably require some changed deep into the gui2 code startign with debugging on why invalidate_layout is so slow in the first place, for startes, it will mostliekely recaculate the 'desired' size for all widgets even of those that have no been changed (or don'T chntaina  widget that has beeen changed,)
20181013 01:07:04< gfgtdf> but if the only options are to call invalidate_layout to fix possible cutoffs, and not to call it for not having annoing lags in lua dialogs , i'd always vote for the second option in particualr since the cutoffs can probably easily be fixed by the umcdev (use a stacked widget or recreate the dialog ater a change (both are actually common practices in umc iirc)) while the these lags cannot.
