It's actually based on historical myth, I was looking at vampire lore for japan, turns there isn't really any. With the exception that there are vampire trees, called jubokko. The story is that in a battlefield where many people have perished the roots of the trees drain the blood of the fallen, or something like that, and then they become vampire trees. 20181125 17:46:07< hk238> So based on that I thought of making that ability and calling it 'jubokko' or something 20181125 17:49:44-!- vn971 [~vasilii@2a02:a210:2203:c000:9b4c:6306:d2d6:cc69] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer] 20181125 18:10:20-!- vn971 [~vasilii@2a02:a210:2203:c000:9b4c:6306:d2d6:cc69] has joined #wesnoth-umc-dev 20181125 18:11:29-!- vn971 [~vasilii@2a02:a210:2203:c000:9b4c:6306:d2d6:cc69] has quit [Client Quit] 20181125 18:29:35-!- vn971 [~vasilii@2a02:a210:2203:c000:9b4c:6306:d2d6:cc69] has joined #wesnoth-umc-dev 20181125 18:29:45< vn971> disconnections all the time.. hk238: awesome! 20181125 18:49:03-!- vn971 [~vasilii@2a02:a210:2203:c000:9b4c:6306:d2d6:cc69] has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds] 20181125 19:10:11-!- vn971 [~vasilii@ip-213-127-110-192.ip.prioritytelecom.net] has joined #wesnoth-umc-dev 20181125 19:10:22-!- vn971 [~vasilii@ip-213-127-110-192.ip.prioritytelecom.net] has quit [Client Quit] 20181125 19:52:58< celticminstrel> hk238: FTR, for eastern vampires there's also the Chinese hopping vampire. 20181125 19:53:31< celticminstrel> But yeah, vampires are more of a near-eastern thing, I think. 20181125 19:53:38< celticminstrel> Like eastern Europe. 20181125 20:04:36< hk238> Yeah I'm aware of the Chinese hopping vampire, but that's not part of japanese mythology as far as I know, but I just checked wikipedia 20181125 20:39:25< celticminstrel> Well obviously. It's Chinese. 20181125 20:40:20< celticminstrel> There's probably a few other vampire-like things in Japanese mythology, but I wouldn't be able to name them off the top of my head. 20181125 21:37:25< hk238> ahh.. a problem with the leader unlocking recruits system is that the unit database doesn't fetch the units 20181125 21:37:28< hk238> https://units.wesnoth.org/1.14/bloodlegacy/en_US/bloodlegacy.html#Bloodlegacy 20181125 21:38:52< hk238> https://units.wesnoth.org/1.14/dunefolk_modified/en_US/dunefolk_modified.html#Dunefolk%2C%20Modified 20181125 21:38:52< Ravana> there is preprocessor define for wmlunits 20181125 21:39:05< Ravana> you can load separate wml for unit tree 20181125 21:40:00< hk238> I guess I could also create separate factions so that there's only 1 leaderchoice per faction.. Hmm I don't know what that preprocessor define means? 20181125 21:40:16< Ravana> mostly #ifdef 20181125 21:42:09< celticminstrel> ifdef what though? 20181125 21:42:16< Ravana> https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/commit/598575478678da53523613bb00f0403e0747fddc 20181125 21:44:20< hk238> yeah but the factions is defined by a lua code 20181125 21:45:54< celticminstrel> You can include a non-Lua version with all possible recruits in an "#ifdef __WMLUNITS__" section. 20181125 21:46:07< hk238> https://github.com/n832sv/wesnoth_vampire_faction/blob/master/lua/recruit.lua 20181125 21:46:24< hk238> okay 20181125 21:46:55< hk238> I don't know how though but I guess I understand the idea sort of 20181125 22:56:56-!- zookeeper [~lmsnie@wesnoth/developer/zookeeper] has quit [Ping timeout: 268 seconds] 20181125 23:34:33< hk238> should try and get back to making the tree ability. I got derailed to random thnigs again ... 20181125 23:34:34< hk238> :D 20181125 23:39:16< hk238> hmm I'm having trouble figuring out how this works with WML tags 20181125 23:39:30< hk238> if I have a on die event, and then I filter for notliving 20181125 23:39:49< hk238> and then I want to do something to the units adjacent to that unit. Do I need to put the other thing inside the filter tags, or does whole event get filtered? 20181125 23:40:22< hk238> basically I'd need to do [store_unit] and save all the adjacent units, then with FOREACH do the heal + 1 maxhp thing 20181125 23:40:42< hk238> I'll post an example in a minute 20181125 23:47:41< hk238> https://pastebin.com/BLd9WQbc 20181125 23:48:35< hk238> so that probably isn't right 20181125 23:48:44< hk238> :D 20181125 23:49:31< hk238> so I want the filter_adjacent to be adjacent to the unit that triggered the die event --- Log closed Mon Nov 26 00:00:58 2018
