Re: Dunefolk fighter portrait

According to this , the entire faction will be getting portraits sometime between 2021-2022. Thus, a temporary placeholder at this point seems rather irrelevant. It will. 2022 is likelier seeing where we currently stand and how I didn't do as much as I had planned for 1.16, but Dunefolks are defini...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

For the shaman, I wonder if some (glowing?) mushrooms around the base/roots would work? Also, the darker reddish lines are a vine, I assume? Agreed, glowy things would add a much-needed magical vibe. The red lines are indeed a vine that I added as an afterthought when I noticed my shaman was so far...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

The wose shaman is something I've been working on for a while. I'm not completely satisfied with it, though, the foliage is giving me a headache. However, fixing it would require that I take a step back, do lots of tree & style studies and possibly redraw all of the leafy parts, which I would sa...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

 Currently, on my hard drive and without a transparent background. You're right, I absolutely need to get this part done. Will get to it this week.

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

Thanks for the feedback guys ! I will revise the bottom robes of the Jinn, you're right that it's a lot blockier than the rest. You don't necessarily need to get the nagas done, but we do need the Ophidian design finalized soon if we're going to stay on schedule. Dart could work, but this is fantasy...

Re: Wesnoth Fauna

I actually was thinking of a smaller, atrophied tail, somewhat inspired by a vinegaroon. I had no idea these even existed. They're weird and a fun source of inspiration. 8) Yes, I do think the strangeness in the portrait boils down to the overall body/tail relation, but as you say any changes can w...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

One of the forms of authentic mythological jinn is described as a "smokeless flame" and likened to lightning. The palette and 'tone' of your portrait feels like it lands really close to this. If the silhouette was less like fire and more like a plasma type electrical phenomenon and if the...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

What's the current plan for this guy? As far as portraits go, my current plan is the following : - Jinn - Wose Shaman - The other nagas I can do the nagas first though, if it helps get the sprites in time. The guy Doofus linked is indeed a replacement for the Ophidian/Sicarius. He will have a pierc...

Re: Wesnoth Fauna

Since there were already three scorpion units, and the spider zombie didn't seem like a good fit, I am working on a scorpion zombie. Since there is a scorpion zombie, adding another scorpion is relatively simple. Possibly a scorpion advancement would be good, but "ancient scorpion" or som...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more

Thanks everyone for the all the feedback, I will be working on that Djin next. In the meantime, I went and finished the fire wraith portraits. If someone wants to create an updated sprite based on them, be my guest. I ended with 3 versions : - nice guy fire wraith - bad hair day fire wraith. He is p...

Re: kabachuha's art (for IftU and AtS)

Hello Karachuha. Got your ping on Discord. I hate giving half-assed feedback so I might be blunt in places, please bear with me. Altogether, there is...A lot to say about this portrait, but most of it boils down to art fundamentals. Domains where it lacks at the moment : - Anatomy. Inconsistent prop...

Re: Zombies

Specular works fine for me. One thing I had previously missed is the abrupt separation between the light and dark halves of the dorsal shell. If it is a color pattern on the shell, then the regularity of it is a little misleading. If it is shading, then obtaining such an effect would require an almo...
