Hello doctor_sniff,
Welcome to the forums.
Including the links, these are the pages that inform about translations: http://wiki.wesnoth.org/WesCamp and http://wiki.wesnoth.org/WesnothTranslationsHowTo
In the most of languages, there is a person who takes care of each of them, but it seems there is no Farsi here (yet): http://wiki.wesnoth.org/WesnothTranslations
So you should probably contact with Espreon whose mail address is on a link I posted. Or you can send him a PM (private message). He is actually a very busy person for us, so I am not sure how soon he can reply you, though (you may need a patience).

Re: Tranlate to Persian (Farsi)
Right now Espreon is on vacations. To start a new translation I need to know some things:
1) Do you need a special font or do things work with DejaVu Sans? If you need a special font you will have to find a suitable one first.
2) What is the locale code for Farsi? For traditional Chinese it is zh_TW ('zh' as language, 'TW' as country). Please have a look at these files to get an idea what will be required: https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth-old/ ... /zh_TW.cfg The file is a plain textfile created in UTF-8.
Once I have this information from you I can generate the po files so that you can start translating. For this you just follow the info provided under the links SkyOne mentioned.

Let’s call it Persian.2) What is the locale code for Farsi? For traditional Chinese it is zh_TW ('zh' as language, 'TW' as country). I guess we’d have it be “fa_IR” and have “fa_AF” be an alternative (Iranian Persian and Afghan Persian apparently aren’t that different, but I don’t know much about Persian, so I’m mostly relying on Wikipedia) while keeping Tajik (tg_TJ) separate, especially since Tajik uses Cyrillic rather than the Arabic-derived Persian script.
