But that's still good advice. Recently I have found that religiously pressing CTRL+V really helps (perhaps its obvious, but I didn't discover its usefulness until recently).
Re: The "How to play..." Series
I'm a new player, and I would prefer if posters in this and other how to play threads respected that and didn't use acronyms. When they use the acronyms it is because they are debating the merits of the faction, but they are using a mode of communication that excludes new players from understanding.
From an efficiency point of view, what's better? A) Every new player having to find the acronym wiki and look up the acronym every time they come across one, or B) The poster typing a few more characters. It especially makes sense if you consider that there might be *gasp* casual players out there.
Anyway, someone linked me the wiki for acronyms...

Re: The "How to play..." Series
I just learned about this recently. This is CRUCIAL to playing this game well. It really should be more clearly taught to the noob players, perhaps in one of the noob campaigns.F50 wrote:But that's still good advice. Re: The "How to play..." Series
So...I've been wondering for a while who added this to the OP:
I mean, the original project never got finished....so why add even more to the fray? Who was going to write those guides?
General elements of the game strategy(not done yet):
Economy
About luck and risk management
Recruitment patterns
Unit synergy
XP saving and leveling decisions
Proper use of abilities and weapon specials
Special advices regarding team games
MP netiquette
Individual guides on each of the default MP maps(not done yet)

I really wish you would continue with this series. It has helped me a lot.

That was kind of random.

Re: The "How to play..." Series
I wrote the guide. I keep it updated. It's a default MP scenario. How is that...random?
Re: The "How to play..." Series
Isn't this a strategy guide on the factions of Wesnoth? It doesn't really have much to do with special scenarios. I also don't know if this is a big deal for stickies, but it's also a revival.

Re: The "How to play..." Series
Damn, it's been 18 years since I started this series huh? I looked this game up on Steam and thought about downloading it again. Would anyone even care if I tried updating this?
Re: The "How to play..." Series
Welcome back, Wesnoth has changed a lot while you were away.
I think people will be glad to see updated strategy guides, so your work will not be in vain.
